Lighten Up Lancaster County Coalition is a group of concerned individuals, organizations and employers who want to increase the number of children and adults in Lancaster County who are at a healthy weight.

You are invited to attend our next event in cooperation with the School District of Lancaster at Barnstormers Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Everyone is welcome to a FREE, fun, interactive, informational afternoon FOR ALL AGES to share ideas on nutrition and physical activity.

Apple Award Contest: This year we are asking you to create a short video or poster using the theme, “Eat Wise and Exercise.” Everyone who enters will receive an award. The grand prize winner will receive a trophy to share with their school.

What We Have Done:
Over 200 community members have joined action teams:
- Community Action Team – Started free ongoing
physical activity program America On the Move in
Lancaster County
- Education/Schools Action Team – Offer Wellness
Education Summits in Fall and Spring for school
administrators, nurses, cafeteria staff, PTO, PTA, School
Wellness Councils, parents, non-public schools, day care
centers, etc.
- Workplace Action Team – Created a survey to assess
corporate needs and a toolkit to promote healthy
eating and physical activity at work sites.
- Physician Action Team – Assisting with a new
program to promote healthy eating and physical
activity for families.
What We Plan To Do:
- Community Action Team – Create a list of nutrition
and physical activity resources for Lancaster County.
Education and Schools Action Team
Communicate the importance of healthy eating and
increased activity. Educational summit planned.
- Workplace Action Team – Continue to assist
employers in promoting healthy eating and physical
activity at work sites.
- Physician Action Team – Expand programs to
physician offices that promote healthy eating and
physical activity for families.
- Community Design Action Team – Improve
community “walkability” to increase physical activity.
